PROHIBITED AND RESTRICTED GOODS
IMPORTS: Weapons, drugs, explosives, pornographic and subversive films, and literature. Sporting firearms and ammunition may be imported with a special permit from the Secretary of Defence and the Treasure Department.
EXPORTS: Legitimate archaeological or colonial relics, precious and semi-precious stones, metals, and wood in their natural state.
Diplomatic personnel, members of international organizations, and Hondurans returning after 12 months abroad are eligible for a free import permit or Franchise (Dispensa). The client must secure this franchise through a lawyer after arrival, but the shipment may be held at customs or S.l.T. in bond, with an extra charge. If no franchise or resident permit is available, the client will have to secure at customs a very high guarantee, as all articles would be assessed. A customs inspection is mandatory and is usually performed at the customs site; however, it may also take place at the client’s residence for his/her convenience or at the agent’s warehouse for an extra fee.
