IMPORTS: Weapons, drugs, explosives, pornographic and subversive films and literature. Sporting firearms and ammunition may be imported with a special permit from the Secretary of Defence and the Treasure Department.
EXPORTS: Legitimate archaeological or colonial relics, precious and semi-precious stones, metals and wood in its natural state.
CUSTOMS REGULATIONS
HOUSEHOLD GOODS Diplomatic personnel, members of international organisations and Hondurans returning after 12 months abroad are eligible to a free import permit or Franchise (Dispensa). This franchise must be secured by client, through a lawyer after arrival, but shipment may be held at customs or S.l.T. in bond, with extra charge. If no franchise or resident permit is available, client will have to secure at customs a very high guarantee, as all articles would be assessed. A customs inspection is mandatory and is usually performed at customs site; however, it may also take place at client's residence for his/her convenience or at agent's warehouse for an extra fee. New or used vehicles are heavily taxed and are duty free for diplomats and members of international organisations only.
